A feast of pig on many sensory levels will be offered when British DJ and electronic artist Matthew Herbert, performs his controversial show, One Pig, at the Melbourne Recital Centre on April 13. Perhaps it's the closest we'll get to smellavision - when Herbert performs , he will have chef Jesse Gerner (Anada, The Aylesbury and St Ali North), on stage cooking pig for 13 minutes of the one-hour performance. ''I'll be cooking bacon on stage and we have fans to blow the smells into the crowd,'' Gerner says. The sizzle Gerner creates while cooking will also be part of the mix and his brief from Herbert is to include pork crackling and some butchery while on stage. An instrument called the Sty-Harp will also feature and drums made from the pig's skin will be played. Herbert has stated his performance is not for or against meat eating, but asks consumers to consider the ''industrialised process which leads from animal to neatly packaged products in our supermarkets''. It's part of Metropolis New Music Festival. Tickets are $25 and available at metropolisfestival.com.au
