Last week, we threw a small bomb into the craft beer world by asking whether the hop bubble was on the verge of bursting. And while we concluded that there is a backlash brewing, with non-believers defiantly re-embracing jugs of Reschs, tinnies of Pabst Blue Ribbon and other light brews affectionately known as fizzy booze water, the craft beer devotees aren't going down without a fight.

This Saturday is Good Beer Rising, the second annual one-day festival celebrating craft beer, craft breweries and craft drinkers. Coordinated by James Smith, one of the founding members of Good Beer Week and author of 150 Great Australian Beers, the festival will see more than 100 events held all over the country from Perth to Sydney to Toowomba.

Smaller brewers will be taking over the taps of local pubs and bars. Moondog Brewery in Abbotsford will be tapping a single batch keg while the St Kilda Local Taphouse staff will be attempting to exact revenge on Melbourne's beer writers in a cricket match at St Kilda Primary School.

So whose side are you on, Melbourne? The craft beer revolution is turning into a war. Time to put your mug where your mouth is.
