Maurizio Terzini's plans for a city venue have escalated, with the restaurateur moving forward on a site at Penfold Place, near Martin Place.

"We've put down a deposit last week. We obviously have a few hoops to jump through with DAs, etcetera, but it's looking promising," Terzini says.

Terzini's passion for the venture is so pumped the venue will most likely carry his name, with its working title Da Maurizio.

The owner of Icebergs Dining Room and Bar spoke to Good Food from Bali, where he is building a new restaurant.

Terzini says the Penfold Place venue will be all-day dining, with a cafe-wine bar upstairs and his Da Orazio Bondi pizza concept below.

He promises a twist to the upstairs space Sydney hasn't seen before.

Terzini is entering the CBD at a busy time, with a rash of new venues opening in the precinct surrounding Martin Place, including Jim Kospetas' Greek restaurant, 1821 and Mercado.
