Der Raum to relocate to Germany

Der Raum is changing its name to Gamsei and relocating to Munich.

The German bar is due to open in March.

For many, this will come as devastating news – Matthew Bax is to the Melbourne cocktail scene what Shannon Bennett is to food, and Bax’s high-end, award-winning bar helped redefine Melbourne’s drinking scene. But don’t panic.

There’s Bax’s Bar Americano in the CBD, and Bax and crew are set to open Bar Economico – a Jamaican and Mexican inspired offering, specialising in rum – at the former Der Raum site at 438 Church Street, Richmond by April.
