Design praise for cool hand Luke

Congratulations to Luke Mutton, owner of cafes Dead Man Espresso in South Melbourne and Common Galaxia in Seddon, on receiving a high commendation for his design of the latter in the Australian Interior Design Awards 2013. Mutton was surprised to get a place at all. ''I was stoked,'' he says. ''Before I started designing Common Galaxia, I was worried how it would turn out.'' Mutton worked closely with design studio Life Space Journey to create the cafe interior. He is also planning a bar, to be called Golden Sun Moth, in partnership with Jackson Duxbury, the head barista at Common Galaxia. Mutton is working on the concept while he searches for the right location.
