Dinner with Shewry and friends

Perhaps inspired by the global cheffy gatherings he regularly attends, Attica's Ben Shewry has invited a gang of nine friends to the restaurant to cook for just one night. And given Shewry's reputation, can we expect some cheffy show-offing from the top-flight roll call? ''There's no regular gathering of chefs in Melbourne,'' he says. ''I just wanted to get these dinners going; it's stimulating for me and especially for my staff.'' The second ''Friends of Attica'' dinner will be held on Wednesday, April 17. Guest chefs include Mark Best and Three Blue Ducks' trio of chefs from Sydney including Darren Robertson, locals Andrew McConnell and Matt Wilkinson, and Age Good Food Guide Chef of the Year Michael Ryan from Beechworth's Provenance. The 10-course dinner is $260 with a flight of matching wines for $120. Bookings on 9530 0111.
