Double Bay dishing up a dining revival

With Fish Face and other new venues on the way, Double Bay is slowly starting to regain its food pulse.

One of the suburb's newish arrivals, Pelicano, is making some serious changes. It has nabbed the empty space above it, with plans to expand in coming months and open for lunch and dinner.

Pelicano is also ushering in a new food direction. Chef Jeff Salet has departed the kitchen, his technical and artily smeared creations stepping aside for a new style.

Pelicano has signed Damien Monley, who gained a reputation for his no-fuss, healthy produce-driven food at Flat White Cafe in Woollahra before opening chicken-and-salad venue Madam Char Char in Surry Hills. Monley already has plenty of fans in Double Bay.
