With Sake restaurant confirming it will open in Double Bay, details are now emerging about the food plans upstairs from the Japanese restaurant's Cross Street digs.

InterContinental Sydney Double Bay opens in October at the former site of the Ritz Carlton Double Bay. A spokeswoman for InterContinental says a yet-to-be-named grill restaurant, focusing on Australian produce, will open as part of the project.

This kitchen will serve food to the pool deck, part of the $20 million revamp of the building. Chef Julien Pouteau, who has glam Marrakech venue La Villa des Orangers on his CV, is in charge of the hotel's food.

Word is a bakery concept with "international credentials" will join Sake in the development's retail space.
