Top notch dumplings and Cantonese cuisine can be found at locations other than Haymarket and Ashfield. Eastwood is only thirty minutes drive from the city and has a fantastic assortment of Asian eats.

Taste Tours has a trip on Saturday July 19 which explores this lesser known hotspot of Hong Kong cuisine and tickets are currently 20 per cent off.

“Arriving in Eastwood is like stepping into a mini Asia,” says Taste Tours' Lesley Unsworth. “It's busy, bustling, and chock-a-block full of enticing sights, smells and tastes. The street food tour explores unique Hong Kong fusion and other Southern Chinese food - completely mouthwatering and nothing like your suburban Chinese takeaway.”

Taste Tours is a social enterprise embedded into the Benevolent Society and has weekly foodie walking tours of Sydney suburbs. Profits are invested back into the business to train local guides.

“Taste Tours come with a warning,” says Unsworth. “They're addictive. The tours are full of food and stories as generous as the communities they operate in. The local people who lead them know the best places to eat and shop.”

Other tours on the horizon include “Vietnam on a Roll” (a mini-walking tour of Canley Vale) and a South American Food Trail in Fairfield.

Head over to tastetours.org.au for tickets (note you'll have to book a ticket for the Eastwood trek before July 16).
