Wildflower Restaurant on Maling Road, Canterbury, closed quietly on July 21, with new owners moving in the following day.

The restaurant has been bought by Mario Laus, most recently at Southgate restaurant Tutto Bene.

He is changing the name to Squisito, Italian for "exquisite", and says it will serve "Mediterranean food, good quality with a cafe feel".

The interior will also undergo a makeover. "We are making it more rustic, exposing the brick walls," Laus says.

Squisito will open in late August, with breakfast and lunch on weekends, weekday lunches from Tuesday to Sunday, and dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
