Burleigh Heads is continuing to cement its reputation as a premium Gold Coast eating precinct. The latest venue, bar/eatery Finders Keepers, opened this week.

The past 18 months have seen a flurry of openings in the southern suburb, with Finders Keepers joining The Fish House (the brisbanetimes.com.au Good Food Guide 2013 Regional Wine List of the Year winner), Justin Lane, Bin 12, Cavalier Bar and Supper, The Little Plate, Canteen Kitchen and the wood-fired bakery and cafe Paddock (OK, officially in Mermaid but just down the road), as well as Willow Dining Room, Borough Barista and more.

Finders Keepers owner Chris Herbert says he chose the area for its "massive" potential, and a growing, young, urbane demographic. The decor and ethos will be "old school" with a focus on early 20th century styling with wait staff in schmick uniforms and a cocktail list of classics with a twist. His Japanese chef has constructed a globally-roaming share plate menu, which Herbert says is designed to encourage the social aspect of a night out.

Incidentally, we hear a certain Sydney wine bar owner was having a look around the empty site below Oskars right on the beach. An amazing spot to toast sundown – we'll be keeping our fingers crossed.
