With a facade evoking the wingspan of the flying brick, a local nickname for the yellow-tailed black cockatoo, the Flying Brick Cider House complex is the latest addition to David and Lyndsay Sharp's burgeoning Leura Park and Jack Rabbit empire on the Bellarine Peninsula.

The glassed dining area overlooks a lush lawn dotted with wooden apple crates, and executive chef Dwayne Bourke (ex Sunnybrae and Pettavel) uses apples in various forms on his menu, including oysters with shallot and cider vinegar dressing, mussels with cider, applewood-smoked duck breast and an ever-popular tarte tatin. The menu supports local producers including Encompass Community Services farm enterprise at Leopold, who supply microherbs, vegetables and eggs.

Flying Brick ciders are made entirely from fresh fruit and they're available as a tasting paddle of four or as a 1.89lt growler to take home. It's open daily for lunch and guided tastings, dinner Friday and Saturday night, and there's live music on Friday night.
