Foodie fun for all ages at SMH Growers' Market in Pyrmont

There'll be much foodie fun for all ages at The Sydney Morning Herald Growers' Market this Saturday, July 5.

Professional food consultant and market expert Tawnya Bahr is hosting a kids-only tour of the markets where tikes can taste ingredients, meet stallholders and find out where all those foods they love really come from. The tour is $20 and starts at 9am. Head to the market website to book.

Kiducation is also happening over at the OzHarvest tent with colouring-in sheets and food quizzes galore. OzHarvest is a Australia's first perishable food rescue organisation that collects quality excess food from some of the countries best restaurants and delivers it free of charge to over 500 charities.

Parents might want to have their own food fun and splash out on a fresh black truffle from Lowes Mount Trufferie as Col and Sue Roberts return to the market this year with a new batch of earthy black gold. Lowes Mount Trufferies joins a number of new and returning storeholders this year including Bob's Farm Avocadoes, Formaggi Ocello, Pepe Saya Cultured Dairy Products, Mandagery Creek Venison, and Trunkey Creek Bacon and Pork.

Over on the mainstage, baking guru Phillippa Grogan will be demonstrating recipes from her new book Phillippa's Home Baking. Expect to be shown the art of making puff pastry from scratch (not the simplest of tasks as anyone who's ever tried will testify) and baking an open apple tart using fresh market produce.
