The Potts Point site, home to restaurant stalwart Mezzaluna, is poised to be reinvented by Sydney's generation next. The team behind popular beachside venue Bondi Hardware and Kirribilli arrival The Botanist, is circling the Victoria Street property, which has sweeping CBD skyline views.

Mezzaluna opened more than 20 years ago on the site of a piece of Sydney restaurant royalty, the address once home to Butlers Restaurant. Mezzaluna closed late last year. Angelo Italiani and Aldo Bertoli had purchased the restaurant for a reported $500,000 in 2008.

Broker Allan Levy from Metro Commercial listed the site with empty possession. Hamish Watts, co-owner of Bondi Hardware and The Botanist, confirms interest in the property but says some leasing hurdles remain. "Nothing is final until we put pen to paper," he says.

Watts and his crew transformed an old Bondi Hardware into one of Bondi's busiest venues. It would be interesting to see what they'd do if they get their hands on this old gem.
