If there was a sharemarket for Sydney's eat streets, Danks Street, Waterloo would be a highly traded spec stock. Danks Street built its food cred on the back of chef Jared Ingersoll at Danks Street Depot and also at Fratelli Fresh, both now departed.

Things looked bad, then Luke Mangan moved in with mojo, his wine and tapas bar. Now the massive Casba residential and restaurant development is nearing completion. And we hear Mosman's sprawling Fourth Village Providore will open in the former Fratelli Fresh site later this year. Fourth Village owner Peter Quattroville acknowledges the eat street's drawbacks - mainly parking - but says a lot of disruptive building work has finished. He's so bullish about the area he has purchased the building.

Apart from selling Fourth Village's excellent produce, he's building a ground floor osteria and a second restaurant upstairs in the space formerly occupied by Fratelli's Café Sopra, the two levels linked by a Willy Wonka-esque glass elevator.
