Foxy new food store for Kensington

New deli and food store The Rusty Fox opens today in Kensington. Chef Rebecca Creighton, her partner Kim Scott - who works front-of-house at city restaurant Pei Modern - and their friend, Jennifer Galea, a florist, all live in the area and got tired of ''always having to go outside Kensington to get good cheeses, meats and artisan bread'', Scott says. The former computer laptop shop at 501 Macaulay Road has been renovated and now has a small kitchen and dining section, including a central bench for about 12 seats, and a small courtyard out the back for six, as well as the store. Creighton was head pastry chef at Rockpool Bar & Grill and at Coda before that, and is making jams, chutneys and dressings, as well as providing charcuterie, cheese plates and sandwiches. Produce? Istra smallgoods, Schulz milk, Holy Goat cheeses and Noisette bread. The Rusty Fox is open Tuesday to Saturday from 8am-6pm.
