Sydney's Fratelli Fresh has been snapped up by rapidly expanding food and beverage outfit Urban Purveyor Group. Fratelli's five Cafe Sopra venues, four fresh produce retail outlets and its spin-off Cafe Nice eatery are now part of a UPG stable that already includes Sake Restaurant, Ananas Bar & Brasserie and the Bavarian Bier Cafe chain. Financial details of the deal weren't disclosed.

Fratelli Fresh started with a single outlet in Waterloo, before expanding into the CBD, Walsh Bay and Potts Point. Fratelli founder Barry McDonald will continue as an advisor while Fratelli Fresh Chief Operating Officer Nina Gravelis will join UPG as Brand General Manager.

“Becoming part of an exciting and expanding casual dining group like Urban Purveyor Group will allow Fratelli Fresh to quickly expand in Sydney and other major Australian markets and facilitate investment in current venues," said Gravelis in statement.
