Fratelli Paradiso is set to join the city laneway party, with plans to open a spinoff restaurant behind the Ivy complex, a few doors along from Felix restaurant on Ash Street.

Fratelli at Potts Point, a favourite with a who's who of Sydney chefs and scribes, has been negotiating to take the City of Sydney-owned site in the city. Fratelli Paradiso co-owner Marco Ambrosino says that while the deal hasn't been finalised, a promising meeting took place last week. It would open about September and carry the Fratelli Paradiso name.

''We want to do a Roman-style trattoria. We're very interested in the property, there's the appeal of the density in the city, plus the location being in the middle of some great restaurants,'' he says.
