A taste of a European Christmas market is coming to Melbourne's Madame Brussels Lane over the next four Friday evenings.

The laneway's European Night Markets will feature pop-up shops and wooden hut-like stalls serving wintry German treats including gluhwein (mulled wine), pretzels and sausages.

Traditional carols will be replaced by an accordion player, and there are heaters on site to take off the chill. Why not knock off the working week with a stein and pretzel – prost!

4pm-late, July 18 and 25, and August 1 and 8, Madame Brussels Lane, 50 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, madamebrusselslane.com.au
