The classic Aussie ice-cream, Golden Gaytime, just got supersized.

After a comedic campaign by the Golden Gaytime Icecream Tub Project Facebook page (run by aficionados or a smart Streets marketing team?), Streets Ice Cream has launched a 1.25L tub version.

The campaign's mission statement is to: "Force Streets to make an Icecream Tub of 1L/2L Golden Gaytime (They would also need to make sure the biscuits hold up using... science or magic)"

In several short weeks, after posts of deep-fried Gaytimes and the awkward reality of consuming the desired number of Gaytimes in paddlepop form, the page has amassed more than 3000 followers, and they have achieved their wish.

"Everybody shut the f--- up ... We did it ... Well actually I did most of it ... After writing my letter ... THEY RELEASED IT (only in 1.25 litre ... I guess that will have to do ... For now)," the administrators wrote in a post on Sunday night.

The post already has more than 43,000 likes and 17,000 comments.

People, it appears, are a lot more excited about this iconic recreation (Gaytime first launched in 1959) than the recent limp Coke Life launch.

"I can't believe it. Lief [sic] complete," wrote one fan.

"The diet is over," wrote a plethora of others.

"Oh my god my dreams have been answered!!!" wrote another.

"We have managed to fit Golden Gaytime into a tub with Golden Gaytime classic and two other new flavours," a spokesperson for Streets told News.com.au of the new $6.99 tubs.

"Each is a perfect union of vanilla, Gaytime biscuit crumbs and that unique Gaytime flavour. Grab a spoon and treat your tastebuds to this match made in dessert heaven."
