Little Green Corner cafe typifies owner and barista Hugh Whitehead's ethos of keeping things simple, seasonal and sustainable.

Chef Chris Welsh (ex Gladioli) heads the kitchen at the five-month-old cafe, which cultures its own yoghurt, rolls oats to order and makes almond milk (using the residual meal for sweet treats).

Bacon and egg bread-and-butter pudding or a slow-braised lamb burger may be among the eight or so dishes on the strictly seasonal blackboard menu.

The renovated 1850s building, in Geelong's CBD, includes a takeaway window (for Small Batch coffee), alfresco area, and upstairs informal meeting space.

Benches are made from old stockyard timber, solar panels are on the roof, and raised garden beds grow herbs for tea and for the kitchen.

Open Mon-Fri 7am-3.30pm.
