Guy Turland, the Bondi surfer-chef who struck gold with his YouTube food clips, appearing on NBC's Today Show and signing up with food site Tastemade, will open a new restaurant at Bondi Junction.

Bondi Harvest will open early December at The Eastern. Expect quinoa pancakes and smoked pastrami salmon on the breakfast menu, "Ottolenghi inspired" lunches and tapas-style dishes for the weekend diner service.

Turland, who already operates Jo and Willy's Depot, has experience at the restaurant end of the market having worked at est and Icebergs Dining Room & Bar. But Turland and his business partner Mark Alston have their work cut out for them, sliding into the first-floor space at The Eastern. A Greek restaurant and Goodtime Diner have moved through it in recent times. Their cause will be helped by the signing of in-demand designer Michael Delany to rework the room.
