Hamburger to beef up cafe menu

Twenty & Six Espresso cafe in North Melbourne has employed Chris Hamburger as its new head chef. Hamburger has done stints in the kitchens of Jesse Gerner's venues Anada, the Aylesbury and St Ali North, before deciding to make a move. ''The timing was perfect,'' Twenty & Six Espresso co-owner Majda Falan says. Falan and her partner,

Nedim Rahmanovic, have employed Hamburger to change the menu completely. The broad Asian flavours are gone, with the chef creating a more Mediterranean approach, including a ''very seasonal approach that we really like'', Falan says. There are plans to expand the retail and takeaway aspect of the business, and they are considering opening for dinner in the warmer months.

Twenty & Six Espresso is open for breakfast and lunch, Wednesday to Monday.
