Happy days for Happy Palace

Brainchild of bar baron Jerome Borazio (St Jerome's, Ponyfish Island) and business partner Josh Lefers, this Bourke Street newcomer brings together the pair's shared love of Tsingtao long-necks, Jackie Chan and Chinese kitsch. Interiors are a fun throwback to 1980s suburbia, as are several of the nostalgic picks on chef Kim-Maree Moore's (Seamstress, Movida) menu; think sesame tiger prawn toast with Kewpie mayo or sweet and sour pork. Happy Palace. 87 Bourke Street, city. 9972 3699. Hours: Mon-Sat, 11am-1am; Sun, 11am-11.30pm. happypalace.com.au
