Celebrity cook Adam Liaw is coming to Canberra to launch his new book Adam Liaw's Asian Cookery School.

Canberrans will get the chance to have dinner with the MasterChef Australia star on Thursday October 8 at the Australian National University.

It's the first in the new Meet the Chef series at University House.

Liaw, a former corporate lawyer, shot to fame after winning reality cooking show MasterChef Australia in 2010 and has since gone on to host the Destination Flavour food show on SBS and has published three cookbooks.

He's also a columnist for Good Food, published by Fairfax, and his recipes appear regularly in the Canberra Times' Food & Wine magazine.

Liaw will talk about the new cookbook, which is a step-by-step illustrated guide to Asian dishes. He will sign books, take questions and chat with the audience, and pass down tips and tricks to help improve everyone's cooking.

University House will serve a dinner inspired by Liaw's cookbook, with popcorn chicken with crisp rice noodles, salt grilled salmon and coconut and palm sugar jellies for dessert.

It includes a glass of house red or white.

Tickets are $60 from the ANU. See unihouse.anu.edu.au for more.
