If you don't hear enough renditions of The Star Spangled Banner on American Independence Day, then head on down to Chippendale's new(ish) bar The Chip Off the Old Block for some gin and Jimi.

The Chip crew are putting on Hendricks gin specials each Saturday in July and only spinning Jimi Hendrix classics from 9-11pm. You can get experienced with a "Gin & Bear It" - a mixture house-made cinnamon-infused gin, cinammon whiskey, orange and ginger beer.

The bar has a wealth of English pub food like bacon butties, pork scratchings and slow-cooked corned beef with pickled veg and mustard relish. Probably not the food Jimi grew up with, but definitely the stuff he would have been downing (among other things) during his time in London.

Now if only Christina Hendricks from Mad Men was mixing those G&Ts for a Hendricks party of epic proportions.
