Pigs and Pints, Gold Coast
You can't get more on-trend than pork and craft beer. Well actually, you can. Add a "slider" to the mix and you've nailed it. Pigs and Pints opened on Friday on the Gold Coast's Chevron Island and, as the name suggests, it serves up a drink-friendly menu of sliders (with a pork focus) and craft beer.
It's the brainchild of restaurateur-chef James Brady, a former Vue de Monde chef who also owns the upmarket Samphire Bites next door, itself a relative newcomer to the Gold Coast.
The baby burgers at Pigs and Pints come in the form of a pork belly BLT, a ham hock with celeriac and apple, sobrasada and pickled chilli, as well as non-porky options such asThai salmon with wakame and wasabi. There's even a couple of vego sliders.
"I wanted to do fun food but executed at the same standard as our food at Samphire. We have some amazing craft beers now and I wanted to embrace that, too. Burgers and beer are the perfect marriage," Brady says.
The beer list includes Vale Ale, Vale Dark Ale, Doss Blockos and Monteith's Bitter. For non-beer drinkers, there's also a wine and cocktail list.
