How Reuben sandwiches are faring in Sydney

Is Sydney's love affair with the Reuben sandwich starting to wane? Former Gordon Ramsay chef Tony Gibson has had some bad luck since moving from London; through no fault of his own the restaurants where he has worked – Astral, Manly Pavilion and Smith's on Bayswater – are all now closed. Gibson's foray into New York deli sandwiches with his Ruby & Rach start-up, appeared to be well timed, with a shift in the market to high-quality fast food. Yet Gibson has announced as of this month he's no longer trading at David Jones in the city and Bondi Junction. Michael Moore's foray into the Reuben market is evidently faring much better, the chef expanding his Reuben & Moore concept from the city to Macquarie Centre. And fans will still be able to chow down on a Gibson sambo at his stand at Sydney food markets.
