If Sydney had a Restaurant Opening Index, the precinct around Martin Place would be one of its hottest stocks.

Restaurateur Maurice Terzini is set to join the party, spotted several times touring a secluded site near Martin Place.

"At this stage I can only confirm we are looking," Terzini says.

Goodfood.com.au hears a deal is imminent. But it won't be Terzini's Icebergs moniker making the trip to the city, rather a fresh take on his Da Orazio spin-off. He'll be in good company.

A 130-seat Greek gastro-temple with David Tsirekas in the kitchen will open later this year on Pitt Street, while next month Barrio Cellar, a spin-off from the owners of Barrio Chino at Kings Cross, will open in real estate previously occupied by the Martin Place-based Banc restaurant group.
