As restaurant sites go, 1047 Pacific Highway, Pymble, might be one of the more infamous.

During its long innings as Tables restaurant, an elderly diner died hours after eating a fish dish with an asparagus sauce in 2007.

Dietmar Sawyere ended up taking over the site long after Tables closed, opening Ad Lib Bistro at the address. Ad Lib then became the centre of its own unwanted attention when Sawyere's restaurant group went down and it closed in 2012.

Short Black hears a new restaurant operator has taken the site. No one is talking, but the deal is believed to be over the line and it'll open later in 2013. And the cuisine? It'll be Italian.
