The Thin Red Line Bar & Mess, on the first floor, is a collaboration with Watson's marketing manager and former army colleague Simon McCulloch.

They've taken inspiration from their shared military experience to create ''a high-end cocktail bar that is also a homage to the concept of a 1930s officers' mess'', McCulloch says.

The room has been decorated with historical military dress. He says: ''We want to hark back to a time when service was everything: no mixologists, just professional bartenders.'' The Thin Red Line will have simple food - ''mostly plates to share'' - and will open on Wednesday to Saturday nights.
