Chef Jodie Johnson has moved from Onred to head the kitchen at The Rum Bar on the Kingston Foreshore and has revamped the menu for summer.

Johnson and her brother Ben opened Onred at the top of Red Hill, in 2007 and transformed it into a fine dining spot with a fabulous view over Canberra. Owner Leigh Barnett says the Rum Bar was looking for a new chef and Johnson had decided that things were running well at Onred, her brother had things well in hand, and she was looking for a change and a challenge.

So it is a perfect arrangement for all concerned. The summer menu continues The Rum Bar's tapas and shared plates, this time with little bites designed for one person, a section of shared plates and then desserts.

There's a Mediterranean intrigue to dishes like octopus with almond gazpacho and olives, and salted cod fish fingers with garlic cream, mint, peas and smoked beetroot. Definitely one to check out.
