The site at which Elsternwick's Moor's Head rested is now up and wide awake as Bancroft Brewers, a brand new cafe delivering jolts of excellent coffee, syrupy chunks of house-baked cakes and a bonanza of brunchy, lunchy fare from a team with serious Melbourne hospitality chops (Jason M. Jones and Ramez Abdulnour).

Much of the graphic interior has been retained, with the addition of a street art mural and lots of fat ferns hanging overhead. It's crisp and airy inside, with a communal table surrounded by white bentwood stools and bamboo basket pendant lights.

The menu features ethically sourced produce and an elevated twist on beloved staples – falafels are spiced pumpkin and chestnut, a bagel with lox comes with soused onions and caperberries.

Wake up with a breakfast super salad.

There are super smoothies and healthy breakfasts alongside egg classics, plus it's licensed and takeaway coffee is just $2.50 all day, every day. Gotta love that.

Open Mon-Fri 7am-4pm, Sat-Sun 8am-4pm.
