Bar Estrella has Latin charm in spades, with subtle Old World touches, traditional Mediterranean fare and a healthy dose of flair.
Hospitality newcomers James Rankin and Callen Parsons have hand-built the cosy bar using recycled materials, including Tasmanian oak.
As is Spanish custom, complimentary tapas accompany the drinks. That might mean patatas bravas (and a spirited paprika sauce) with your cava or tempranillo, or some battered eggplant or house-smoked chorizo with an Estrella Damm lager.
Then there's former Bar Nacional chef Nathan Inglis' 36-hour pork belly. Naturally, there's paella (with a vegetarian option), and sangria too – the latter best enjoyed in the made-for-summer beer garden.
Open Wed–Thu 4pm–11pm; Fri–Sat 2pm–midnight; Sun noon–9pm.
