Just Open: Barn and Co at Mrs Nicks Vineyard, Balnarring

Since their departure from Salix at Willow Creek and the sale of Bistro Maison in Mt Eliza, Bernard and Rachael McCarthy have taken post at Barn and Co at Mrs Nicks Vineyard in Balnarring.

The new venture represents a fresh approach for the McCarthys, most notably a move away from a la carte to more casual, share-friendly food with crowd-pleasing choices like truffled manchego croquettes, scallops, and pork jowl or pulled lamb shoulder. There's a solid selection of local and international wines, as well as ciders and beers.

Diners can eat in the rustic, timber-clad barn with its high ceilings and open fire or in the spacious outdoor area, with heating. On sunny days you can even order at the bar, grab a picnic blanket and settle in the garden with a collection of outdoor games at your disposal.

Open for lunch Friday to Tuesday, and dinner Friday and Saturday.
