Camperdown has been crying out for a couple of fun, new eateries and the inner west gods have answered. Little Lord Cafe opened just before Christmas and now Boss Lady Food & Co has joined the party.

Helen Munday and Suzanne Bebawy are the minds behind the cafe, located on Purkis Street close to Parramatta Road. "We have designed the menu to be flexible," says Munday. "For example, our sandwiches have a 'naked' [no bread] option to suit a low carb diet. We want to create a menu that is simple, but as flavoursome as possible."

Boss Lady Food & Co's menu is influenced by traditional Greek and Egyptian recipes, with a modern Australian twist. Expect comforting dishes like ful medames (a type of Middle Eastern baked beans with hummus, baba ghanoush and Lebanese bread) and basturma (an Egyptian cured meat). Feta and zucchini fritters and "Mum's" Greek vine leaves also feature.

Munday and Bebawy have sourced their products from local and organic suppliers where possible, and by using the RSPCA's Choose Wisely campaign to protect heavily farmed animals such as chickens and pigs against inhumane treatment.
