Cruise Bar has reopened at Circular Quay after a major renovation of the Overseas Passenger Terminal.

Owner Christopher Cheung was forced to close during recent building works, and used the time to refurbish his three-level venue, including extending the function space on the top floor.

The ground floor remains a casual bar and the level two restaurant will serve Asian-inspired dining and drinking.

Chef Richard Slarp joins the new team with his creative menus over three levels – the casual wharf-side garden oasis bar on the ground floor, the Hong Kong-inspired Junk Lounge above and the top-level function area.

Menu items will include Asian-inspired foods served tapas style, prawn tagines, baby snapper fillets and cocktail carafes infused with Australian flavours such as lemon myrtle and macadamia oil.

"We're sitting in a prime locality facing one of the most fantastic views but it's still very concrete jungle, and [Cruise Bar's] oasis will break away such a metropolis backdrop," Cheung says.

The reopening comes after several Overseas Passenger Terminal restaurants, including Peter Doyle @ The Quay and Wildfire, were forced to shut their doors last year as the waterfront space was upgraded due to increased cruise-ship traffic.
