The perfect dinner companion is always a great view, and that's exactly what you'll get at Blacktown's new revolving restaurant. Cucina Locale is joining the ranks of 360 Bar and Dining and O Bar and Dining as the latest addition to Sydney's small collection of rotating restaurants.
Its menu has a modern Australian slant, offering black Angus tenderloin with sweet potato and bourbon mash, broccoli chips and bacon jam ($42), or twice-cooked Murray Valley pork belly with chocolate and balsamic, charred apple cheek, pulled pork croquette and cauliflower puree ($32). There's also complimentary bread, baked fresh from Cucina Locale's oven. The views of stretch from Sydney all the way to the Blue Mountains; savour them as you sip classic mojitos ($13) and daiquiris ($14) at a cocktail bar that's soundtracked by performances on the in-house grand piano.
"The name, Cucina Locale, comes from me working with a lot of Italians," says head chef and owner Jessie Singh. "The actual meaning of Cucina Locale is 'local kitchen'. I cook things from every part of the world, because Australia is a multicultural society and I want to put that on the plate."
As well as boasting the best view in Western Sydney, Singh has high aims for his restaurant. "I have a long-term dream of getting at least one chef's hat. I think I can get one. I will be working towards that."
