Just Open: Fancy Hank's BBQ Joint

Kristoffer Paulsen

The Fancy Hank's pop-up has now taken up permanent residency at the former Mercat Cross Hotel, re-opening upstairs as Fancy Hank's BBQ Joint.

The space has undergone a renovation inspired by '80s Australiana, Americana and barbecue culture, increasing its seating capacity to 250 with a separate private function area.

Fancy Hank's is still doing what it does best; dishing up traditional American-style, slow-cooked barbecued meats, such as brisket, ribs, pulled pork and "beer can" chooks, all cooked in traditional pit smokers. You can wash down all that protein with the 10 beers on tap or head to the bourbon- and tequila-focused back bar for something a little stronger. They also whip up their own homemade cordials and soft drinks.

Open from 11am to 11pm Sunday -Thursday; 11am to 1am Friday-Saturday, serving lunch from noon-3pm and dinner from 6-9pm.
