Long-running roadworks right outside Bendigo's Cafe au Lait was the spur hospitality veteran Paul Moran needed to rethink his business. After closing last December, he reopened in September with a fresh look and a new name, Finders Keepers – a nod to the city's goldmining past.

Highlights of the breakfast and lunch menu include baked eggs with chorizo and manchego, soft-shell crab rolls with fennel and dill, and wagyu burger with house-made beetroot relish. Moran has also bought a 12kg Probat coffee roaster and roasts his own single-origin beans and blends, and supplies a few other businesses in the area.

Finders Keepers is open Mon-Thurs 7am–5pm; Fri 7am–8pm; Sat-Sun 8am–4pm.
