The summer search for sunshine matched with good food, an appropriate drink and a dab of sunscreen is over.

The Village, in the leafy St Kilda Road space that once housed Belgian Beer Cafe and the Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind, has added the Garden Kitchen to its existing hospitality areas (Ormond Hall, the Bistro and the Arbor).

The Garden Kitchen menu has bites that will merrily support a few drinks, including The Village burger with Hopkins River beef, cheese and pickles on brioche, arancini and pizzas, perhaps with a topping of prawns, peperonata, salted ricotta and chilli.

There's a broad selection of beers on tap, including Moon Dog Love Tap lager brewed in Abbotsford; jugs of cocktails such as the Matty Matt (vodka, Triple Sec, elderflower, lime and cranberry juice); and a wine list that carries over from the Bistro.

The Village Garden, at 557 St Kilda Road, is open Friday to Sunday from noon.
