The feature wall can step aside as it's a feature floor providing eye candy at chef Nathan Sasi's new soft-serve shop. Good Times opens Tuesday on Macleay Street, Potts Point, and the floor has a cash register ring to it. "We had to place 12,000 two cent coins tail side up before we could epoxy them in place," Sasi says.

The former Nomad head chef has applied an equal amount of attention to the menu, which he hopes will change perceptions of soft-serve. He wants customers to be able to taste fruit in season and deliver restaurant-quality desserts in a cone. "People seem surprised we aren't going to use powders or additives," he says. "There's a stigma to soft-serve. I've had people ask if we are going to add pork fat."

Sasi has opened Good Times with his wife Sali, and drafted in a former stalwart of the strip, Christine Manfield, to guest curate the Good Times menu for its first week only. "She has created the Rainbow, which is a nod to upcoming Mardi Gras, and the Stoned Pony, an ice cream sandwich with unbelievable flavour combinations and textures. It's up there with the Gaytime."
