Lalitha Rajan and her son Ashwin have quit corporate jobs to follow a dream.

At Tadka Boom! the family is rethinking Indian food using healthy ingredients. Roti wraps and brown rice bowls are menu heroes but the standout is Kid Kaboom - lamb marinated in 15 spices and gently cooked for 15 hours.

Sliders, salads and Lalitha's top-secret, spiced ice-cream also feature.

Ashwin's younger brother is responsible for the yellow and teal colour scheme and hanging neon halos. A hand-painted portrait of Gandhi reminds diners to "be the change [they] want to see in the world" - or maybe he's just eyeing off their food.
