If you have ever been to Florence, your taste buds will sizzle when you think back to that porchetta panino you stumbled on while traipsing through the city's famous leather markets: thick slices of spit-roasted porchetta topped with rocket leaves and a light dressing on fresh ciabatta.

Now whisk yourself back to Sydney and plan your next trip to Neutral Bay for the October 26 opening of Italian Street Kitchen.

ISK is a hotly anticipated restaurant set to showcase casual Italian street food in all its authentic and affordable glory. Hoping to transport its customers to a Florentine cobblestone street, the venue will offer an indoor street fair experience.

Restaurateur Mauro Marcucci, owner of Baccomatto Osteria, is leading the venture, joined by Seagrass Hospitality Group. With vast experience in the industry, Marcucci has high hopes for the new concept.

"We are recreating Italian casual dining. Whilst street food is popular everywhere now, Italian street food is not something you tend to find in Sydney or Melbourne. The idea is to showcase simple, authentic food that is recognisable for our guests."

ISK will feature interactive food stalls set to leave diners spoilt for choice. A homemade pasta stall will sit next to a wood-fired pizza station and an antipasto stand. The porchetta spit roast will sit turning, awaiting customers to plate up fresh panini with a side of fried arancini and calamari.

"We are trying to create a visual spectacle that people can be immersed in," says Marcucci.

A plate of pasta with your choice of sauce will set you back $12. A pizza, $15.

"The idea is to fit in a casual family meal without breaking the budget. We have taken out the element of intensive table service so that we can produce high-quality food for affordable costs."
