Juanita Peaches might sound like the progeny of Paula Yates and a mystery Latin lover, but in fact it's the latest project of dude food mogul, Raph Rashid (Taco Truck, Beat Box Kitchen).
Peddling a no-brainer combo of southern-style fried chicken, beer and "burros" (Rashid's version of a burrito) the nights-only enterprise occupies the space that by day runs as his other wildly popular business, All Day Donuts.
The menu's simplicity fits nicely with the small, brick veneer-fronted shopfront's no-fuss, canteen-like interior – think low stools, Laminex table tops, lolly-pink paper napkins.
Rashid says the business was on the boil for some time before finally launching in late June. "I was supposed to open this place first, but I got side-tracked by doughnuts," he says.
His buddy Matt Skinner helped out with the wine list, while tunes-wise the vibe marries the unlikely combo of country music and hip-hop; there's "everything from Neil Young to NAS".
Doughnut fanciers will be pleased to know that the 'nuts are also on offer.
So what's next for the serial multi-tasker? "Who knows, maybe pizza," he laughs. "It's just good to be able to tick this one off my fast food list."
Open Thu-Sat 5pm-10pm.
