Like Minded Projects seemingly popped up overnight at the city end of Smith Street, but the collaborative space was actually two years in the making.

Housing Coffee Supreme, wholefood kitchen Fred Gets, and Ace raw cookies and nut milks, the large, naturally litspace screams Zen, save for the contrasting white neon signs alerting customers to each of the collaborators.

Elaine So, who brought the three parties together, describes the concept as like-minded people in the same space complementing each other. "I find that a lot of the time people will open a business and try to take on things that aren't their specialty," she says.

Inside brass-trimmed glass cabinets, Fred Gets delicate raw lamingtons and nut-covered chocolate Pana Pops beg to be eaten, while Ace raw cookies, such as apple pie and choc mint surprise with their bold flavours.

"We take food seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously," So says. "It's just about great-tasting food that happens to be meat-free, mostly vegan, gluten- and refined sugar-free."

There's no menu so what you see is what you'll get: perhaps jars of raspberry or mango chia and coconut yoghurt, enamel bowls of bircher muesli or a colourful potato and red-onion salad with parsley and almond slivers.
