Just Open: Locale pizzeria, Deakin

Deakin's newest eatery is Locale, a neighbourhood Italian which offers wood-fired pizzas and pastas. Locale is the product of a partnership between well-known Canberra restaurateur Omar Muscat and Michael Nagy.

The menu is a relaxed collection of traditional Italian dishes ranging from arancini, plates of salumi, spaghetti vongole, and lasagna filled with vegetables. The pizzas are split into whites and reds and simple pizzas such as rosemary fetta and olive oil.

There's takeaway (although the website says it's coming soon) and it's open seven days a week for dinner. Good news for gluten-free diners as well – there are gluten-free pastas and pizza bases available for a small extra charge.
