In one of the quieter transitions of recent months, the Hutong Group's Lost Heaven has opened on the site that was previously the city outpost of spice den Dainty Sichuan.

Dainty may have left the building, but the Sichuan fire and spice remains, with build-your-own hot pots and dishes such as beef with wild pepper, steamed barramundi with diced hot chilli, and hot and spicy yabbies.

Fans of Hutong's dumplings can rejoice - its signature xiao long bao (soup-filled dumplings) are also on the menu.

Should the spice get too much, try singing it out at Rainbow World Karaoke on the same level as the restaurant.

The lush 250-seat dining room has a contemporary design, finished in reds and golds.

Lost Heaven takes bookings, and is open daily 11.30am-3pm; Sun-Thu 5.30-11pm; and Fri-Sat 5.30pm-3am.
