Melbourne's latest food precinct has opened 100 metres from Southern Cross Station.

The Grid, on the ground floor of the 26-level development at 567 Collins Street, is now home to a second Pho Nom, Jerry and David Mai's follow-on from the success of their first Pho Nom in CBD monolith Emporium; a fifth Earl Canteen sandwich haven, Spud Bar, Mexican mash-up Guzman Y Gomez, Sushia, Jaffle Jaffle and Black Rice, which features salads made daily.

The operators were chosen "to provide first-class amenity to the resurgent west end of the city", says Andria Carniato, general manager at the Investa Office, one of the collaborating developers.

All the food outlets are open Monday to Friday.
