No, it doesn't refer to a hangover, Yianni Passaris, of Morning After cafe, says. Rather, they serve breakfast (morning) and lunch (after).

Being in Brisbane's youthful West End and open for brunch, we reckon there will be a few sore heads rocking up for a recovery bowl of breakfast carbonara.

The cafe in the Glass Factory residential development on Vulture Street is a big change for Passaris, who previously owned South Bank Italian eatery Dell'Ugo.

"We liked the culture of West End and we wanted to create a cafe here that would talk to everyone," Passaris says. "We want to raise the bar, because while you can get great coffee at some places, great food at others, it's hard to find both along with good service."

Chef Domenico Romano's (ex Dell'Ugo, Gun Shop Cafe and Urbane) breakfast dishes include corn pakora with fried egg, haloumi​ and avocado; granola with yoghurt, rosewater jelly and Bee One Third honey; and buttermilk and ricotta pancakes.

Coffee from local roaster Uncle Joes and Melbourne's Five Senses runs through the Synesso​ machine under the watchful eye of barista Hannah Collins.

The interior, down to the bespoke crockery, has been designed by Alexander Lotersztain, of Derlot (Woolly Mammoth Ale House and Limes Hotel). With seating for 60, there's also an area with power points to recharge laptops and phones.

The venue is licensed with a clipped wine list and Passaris is planning pop-up Friday night themed dinners in the new year.

Open daily 7am-4pm.
